ESCP Europe's Conference on Sustainable Innovation

On January 9th and 10th, the 3rd conference on Sustainable Innovation took place at ESCP Europe in Berlin as part of the Master in Management students’ Career Week. During two days, students discussed sustainability in the economy with important players from established companies, start-ups, politics and non-governmental organizations and developed their own ideas for a more sustainable world. The framework of the Conference was formed by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

This year, 70 experts from i.e. Allianz, Volkswagen, the Berliner Verkehrsgesellschaft, BioCompany, Fairventures Worldwide and fashion revolution provided best-practice examples from the business world. The 300 participants then developed ideas and projects in workshops, some of which can make the leap into practice. The example of Andrea Bragagna shows how fruitful the dialogue and collaborative work are during our conferences. Last year the Italian business student participated in the ESCP Europe Sustainability Conference. This year, Andrea conducted his own workshop on "Sustainability in Mass Events". His goal: to develop impulses for a circular waste management system during big events.

In addition to the topic of waste prevention, the students also worked on food waste, sustainable financing models, smart living or the design of cities.

Sustainability, a cross-cutting theme that runs through all sectors of the economy has become one of the main focus areas of the Berlin campus.  For more information on the Conference, contact Michaela Wieandt (mwieandt@escpeurope.eu)
