ART & ENTREPRISE - Exhibition

In tribute to Claude SEFERIAN, who passed away this summer, the Art & Entreprise group is organizing a guided tour of the Truffaut exhibition at the Cinémathèque française (51 rue de Bercy, Paris 12ème), on Thursday November 6 at 6.30pm. Our friend Claude loved Truffaut's cinema and knew it well.

"François Truffaut's cinema is romantic, narrative, built around characters linked by plots. The visual dimension is neither obvious nor essential. Truffaut has never claimed any visible or ostensible artistic or pictorial influence, and only certain filmmakers have been able to influence him: Lubitsch, Renoir, Guitry, Rossellini, Hitchcock...
The challenge of this exhibition is to get as close as possible to the filmmaker's intimate universe, where the written word and the written thing held an essential place.

In Truffaut's work as a filmmaker, adaptation and scriptwriting are reflected in the erasures, drafts, collages, montages, comments and quotations that permeate his work. Truffaut was a writer of cinema, or if you like, a writer of cinema.

Of all this, archives remain: annotated screenplays, erasures, correspondence, handwritten notes and notebooks. These treasures will feed our exhibition, mingling with film extracts, audiovisual documents, photos and posters, and objects that will sketch out the novelistic universe of François Truffaut."
