Women in Leadership: a career development programme especially for women at ESCP Europe

Female leaders, entrepreneurs and high potentials spent four days full of leadership topics during the first “Women in Leadership Programme” at ESCP Europe, Berlin Campus. But why a leadership training especially for women?

Besides having the required hard skills and know-how, also self-awareness, confidence and a powerful network are crucial to succeed as a leader, regardless of gender. That is why the programme included topics like leadership presence and networking as well as the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and one day of group coaching. The participants also practiced and improved their leadership, communication and negotiation skills during interactive lectures, experiential exercises, individual filmed presentations and negotiation situations.

So what was the special benefit of a training dedicated to women only? Actually, the training gave the opportunity to consider all these topics also with regard to women acting in a male dominated working environment. The participants discussed very openly their experiences, challenging situations and how to succeed as a female leader. They got valuable insights and suggestions from the professors and coaches, experienced in leadership and gender topics.

The participants from various professional and cultural backgrounds (France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Jamaica and Poland) appreciated this. “The training was so inspiring and helpful. I really enjoyed the open-minded environment! I learned a lot from the professors, coaches and participants”, said Christine Schmitt (participant; CEO and co-founder of Schmitt. GmbH Branding. Strategy. Design.).

Prof. Dr. Marion Festing, Professor of Human Resource Management and Intercultural Leadership, teaching in this programme, explained “It is amazing to see how quickly the participants learn and - based on this - develop a great peer approach that provides very honest feedback and creates trust in order to further develop and grow as future female leaders”.

The next training, taught entirely in English, will take place from November 12-15, 2018 in Berlin. Join this career development programme for women in and on their way to leadership positions or recommend it to friends, partners or colleagues.
